Apple App Store has reached a new
milestone in total app downloads.
The manufacturer of the iPhone announced today that there have been 40 billion downloads for unique applications in its App Store since the market launched in 2008. Count excludes Apple redownloads single download and updates. Of the 40 billion applications downloaded to date, nearly 20 billion were downloaded in 2012, the company said.
Apple App Store now has more than 500 million active accounts, and 2 billion apps were downloaded in December alone, making it the best month in the history of the market '. The App Store has 775,000 applications available for iOS devices.
Developers, of course, have benefited from the growth of the App Store. According to the vice president of Apple Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue, 7 billion has been paid to the iOS App Store developers.The growth during the past year was simply amazing. In June, Apple announced that its market reached 30 billion downloads and 400 million active accounts. At that time, the App Store has 650,000 applications available. In October, these figures rose to 35 billion app downloads and 700,000 applications.
Based on these figures, it appears Apple App Store growth is accelerating. While it took four months for Apple downloads 5000000000 pointing between June and October, which jumped to three months between October and January.
