Sony has reported the development of television services online

Rumor is that Sony is the creation of a net-connected multichannel television could drive as soon as this year, according to Variety. Supposedly, the company is in talks with at least two content companies about licensing chains.

Such a service would be in direct competition with Sony satellite and cable TV, as well as other high-tech companies that engage in the television market, such as Intel, Google, Google Fiber, and Dish. this is not the first time rumors have floated that Sony has sought to develop a television service. In November 2011, the Wall Street Journal reported that Sony was working to distribute television channels through Net connected TVs as an alternative to cable. According to Variety, Sony is currently negotiations are much more advanced than they were a year ago.

Sony already has some channels, such as the Game Show Network, as well as videos and music unlimited service but new rumor is said to be much more complete with dozens of channels. In addition, the agreement could theoretically help Sony sell more of its products based entertainment such as game console PlayStation 3, Bravia TVs and Blu-ray.

Asked about the possibility of a television service, a Sony representative told CNET that the company does not comment on rumors or speculation.
