U.S. Cellular is about to launch a phone that can withstand water would, dust, shock and vibration.

Put on sale online on Wednesday and Thursday in the shops, DuraPro Kyocera is designed for people who need a feature phone that can handle tough conditions. The phone can survive about three feet of water for 30 minutes, according to U.S. Cellular and Kyocera.

It also meets the military standard 810G, which ensures it can withstand extreme temperatures, heavy rain, low pressure, salt fog, humidity and solar radiation itself. The phone itself is protected by a Dura-Grip material that makes it stronger and easier to hold.

"For those who work and play outdoors in various weather conditions and climate, Kyocera DuraPro is an ideal device to help you keep in touch with people and information wherever you are," Edward Perez vice president of sales and marketing operations for U.S. Cellular said in a statement. "At U.S. Cellular, we want to offer a better wireless experience and our customers can rely on this phone to continue working even in extreme conditions."

Sale for $ 99.99 after $ 50 mail-in rebate, the DuraPro offers a 2 inch screen 240x320 pixels internal camera of 3.2 megapixels, a large keypad and an option to display fonts large. The memory is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.
