Outlook.com suffers downtime, but the status page indicates otherwise

Microsoft has confirmed that its consumer Web-based e-mail Outlook.com is down for some people.

The technology giant Redmond, Washington-based said on Twitter, it is now "aware of the problem," but did not say what was the cause of the outage. In another tweet, it was noted that it was not clear how long it would take to restore services, but that "piracy is not suspected."

In many tweets sent by @ MicrosoftHelps, the company posted a link to the Microsoft page service condition. However, at the time of this writing, the site says that Outlook.com was still "functioning normally."
